Pay
We want the best – so the Queensland Government offers competitive pay and salary packages.
Every position is allocated a ‘classification’ which determines the pay level at which the position is offered.
These pay levels reflect the skills, knowledge and experience required of the employee to perform their duties appropriately.

How much will I get paid?
Simply look at the job description. It usually shows the classification and salary range.
Does my salary include superannuation?
In most cases, no. But please check all position information carefully to be sure.
What do job classifications have to do with pay?
Each classification, e.g. AO4 (Administrative Officer Level 4) or TO2 (Technical Officer Level 2), has a salary range. In most cases, a new employee will commence at the first level of that salary range and will be eligible for an annual increase until the top of the salary range is reached for that position.
For further information, contact the person listed in the position description.
Do I have to pay additional superannuation contributions?
Yes. All new Queensland Government employees (excluding casuals) automatically pay 5% superannuation. For more information, see the Superannuation page.
Is salary packaging available?
Queensland Government departments and agencies offer salary packaging as a tax effective way of receiving your salary as a combination of income and benefits. Because you pay for the benefits from your pre-tax income you can reduce the amount of income tax you pay and increase the amount you take home each fortnight.
Salary packaging is allowed under the Income Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax Assessment Acts. For further information visit www.remserv.com.au.
