Types available
We offer a variety of apprenticeships and traineeships to suit your needs.
These include:
- Full-time / Part-time
- School-based
- Employed by Group Training Organisation (GTO)
- Existing workers employed as apprentices and trainees
Full-time / Part-time
Full-time apprentices and trainees work and train full-time, usually from 36 to 38 hours a week. Part-time apprentices and trainees work and train no less than 15 hours each week, averaged over a four week cycle. It's the traditional 'earn while you learn' scheme.

Employed by Group Training Organisation (GTO)
If you are currently registered with a Group Training Organisation, ask them about apprenticeship and traineeship possibilities through the Queensland Government. The GTO will then investigate opportunities with us to see whether you can get on-the-job experience within the Queensland Government. Existing workers employed as apprentices and trainees
If you currently work for the Queensland Government, and have done so for longer than three months full-time, or twelve months part-time or casual, consider commencing an apprenticeship or traineeship where you are. Discuss the possibilities with your supervisor.
